Description
Yamaha BB series – general description
The Yamaha BB series is one of Yamaha's most recognizable lines of electric bass guitars. It is designed for bassists who need a reliable instrument with a strong tone, good definition, and comfortable playability – both on stage and in the studio.
The latest generation of BB basses retains the classic BB silhouette but upgrades it with improved construction, better vibration transfer, a more comfortable body, and modern playability. Yamaha does not follow short-lived fashion trends with this series but builds on proven solutions that allow the bassist to shape their sound.
The BB series is known for its clear, punchy, and full bass tone that cuts through the mix well. Due to its balanced sound, stable construction, and wide usability, it is suitable for rock, pop, funk, jazz, gospel, studio, live performances, and professional everyday use.
Yamaha BB234 – 4-string electric bass guitar
Yamaha BB234 is a 4-string electric bass guitar from the legendary Yamaha BB series, designed for bassists seeking a reliable, comfortable, and versatile instrument for everyday playing. It is the entry-level model of the BB series, maintaining the recognizable character, stable construction, and practical PJ sound system.
The alder body offers a balanced tonal character with good clarity, while the maple neck adds a stable feel and quick response when playing. The rosewood fingerboard contributes a pleasant feel under the fingers, and the 34-inch scale length ensures a classic long-scale bass response suitable for various playing styles.
The PJ pickup configuration combines a split single-coil pickup at the neck and a single-coil pickup at the bridge. This setup allows for a wide range of sounds – from a full, warm bass tone to a more defined and punchy character. With separate volume controls for both pickups and a master tone control, the player can quickly adjust the sound according to genre, technique, or ensemble.
BB234 is an excellent choice for beginners, music schools, home practice, band rehearsals, and performances. It offers simplicity, reliability, and the classic Yamaha BB feel in an accessible package.
